The empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description
– Steve Maraboli
Female empowerment is at the core of our work. The Door of Awareness Female Empowerment division provides vocational training to women from deprived communities. This training, such as dress-making, IT courses, and stitching & sewing empower these women to work and earn an independent livelihood for themselves and their families.
We have trained more than 1000 women in IT Skills & Vocational Training.
Our stitching centers are equipped with manual sewing machines as well as all the essential professional equipment. Our vision is to link our trainees with employers and guide them in setting up their micro-enterprise thereby enabling them to start the journey towards attaining social mobility.
We also offer Adult Literacy Courses for illiterate women, which enable them to become productive and proactive members of society. Having an education allows them to earn for their families and increase their civic engagement.
Besides these courses, we regularly conduct Female Discussion Forums within our schools and training centers. This platform facilitates discussion amongst underprivileged and often illiterate women regarding their concerns, which include learning about their rights, health, hygiene, and finding solutions to the issues they face.
The IT Training division at Door of Awareness focuses on girls and women with limited exposure and skills in IT. We seek to equip them with the necessary knowledge as well as skills that enhance their employability and competitiveness in the job market. Our courses offer a thorough introduction to Windows OS and cover the essentials of various professional software such as Microsoft Office, Coreldraw, and Adobe.
